  1. While I'm quite glad the SAAF museum got this prototype bird, I would rather see one of the prototypes being refitted to the Block 1F grade and put in service to replace the aircraft damaged in the hard landing a few years back, the fleet was already a very small number for the size of SA plus when you consider how even our main battle tank is nothing compared to todays technology including what is available further up on the continent.

thanks for the post and sharing though! :)

  2. XDM was designed to be a test bed and was never intended to be used operationally there are vast differences between this and the final product as used by the SAAF

  3. Thanks for the info Garth, but remember there was another one or two aircraft? Looking more closely in resemblance to the operational aircraft and one was even used in the initial Mokopa test firings in OTB ... that's the aircraft I'm referring to, I know it would cost quite a bit but since it was capable of launching the primary anti tank munition, then it would be the ideal model for the replacement?

    here's what I'm referring to: http://www.deagel.com/library1/medium/2006/m02006112500328.jpg
